LUTHER V. HENDRICKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Luther V. Hendricks joined the Edinboro faculty in 1946-47 and had risen to the position of dean of the school of behavioral and social sciences before his death in 1970.  Dr. Richard J. Gromen, Mr. Gregory D. Lessig, Mr. Harvey L. Heath, and the late Mr. Carl Wozniak, all faculty emeritus, originally established the Luther V. Hendricks Memorial Fund Committee in 1972 to “promote and foster excellence in social studies education at Edinboro State College,” as a result of a generous monetary gift by Mrs. Hendricks and members of the Hendricks family.  The scholarship will be awarded to eligible students who are in their junior or senior year and are pursuing undergraduate degrees in the following academic disciplines: history/anthropology, political science/criminal justice, sociology, and economics.  The award will rotate each year to the subsequent academic area.  The recipient must be enrolled full-time, earned a minimum of 60 credits, and have a minimum QPA of 3.0.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters and is not transferable.  Financial aid may be a factor.
