Honors Scholarships

HONORS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

 

EDWARD AND ELAINE BERCIK SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled full-time and meet all requirements for membership to participate in the University Honors Program.  The scholarship is renewable provided the student remains a member of the University Honors Program.  Financial need is not a factor, however if there are two or more students with identical credentials, the student with the greatest need should be awarded the scholarship.

 

COEN FAMILY FOUNDATION HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The Charles S. Coen and Mary Coen Family Foundation was established in 1959 by Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Coen of Washington, Pennsylvania.  The Coen Family Foundation has made significant commitments to education, health care and community development throughout its 45-year history.  The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled full-time and a member of the University Honors Program.  This scholarship may be renewable as determined by University Honors Program qualifications and the Honors Scholarship Committee.  The scholarship can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.  Financial need may be a factor. 

 

GRACE CROWE MEMORIAL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an upperclassmen and a member of the University Honors Program.  The student must have a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.5.  A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Following is the general eligibility criteria for these scholarships.

Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

 

DIEBOLD SCHOLARSHIP

A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Following is the general eligibility criteria for these scholarships.

Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

 

EBERLY FAMILY HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of the University Honors Program, with preference given to students from Fayette County.  Moral character and financial need are also considered. 

 

FOSTER F. DIEBOLD HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

A number of scholarships are available through Edinboro University for participants of the Honors Program. Following is the general eligibility criteria for these scholarships.

Honors program participants must have earned honors credits and have a cumulative QPA of 3.5 or greater.  The overall quality of the recipient's academic work will be considered.  Recipients of Honors Study Abroad Scholarships are ineligible for upperclass honors scholarship consideration in the following academic year.

 

DR. FLORIAN FLOREK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Florian Florek practiced general medicine in Edinboro for many years and was well-respected for his community involvement and his caring and cheerful personality.  This scholarship was created by his wife to honor Dr. Florek and to encourage the same commitment and enthusiasm to education in others that Dr. Florek showed in his life.  The recipient must be an entering full-time freshman or upperclass student who is in the Honors program and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Health Services (Biology; Biology/Pre-Medical; Nutrition; Medical Technology; or Nuclear Medicine Technology).   This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 120 credits provided the student maintains an overall QPA of 3.30 or better.  Financial need is a factor. 

 

MILDRED FORNESS MEMORIAL HONORS AWARD

This scholarship was established in honor of former librarian, Mildred Forness.  It is awarded to an incoming freshman who meets the criteria of the Honors Program.  The recipient must have had a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a college preparatory curriculum in high school, must have graduated in the top 20% of their high school class, and  have a minimum SAT score of 1140 or ACT score of 28.

 

MARIE ROGERS KLINE HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded during the fall and spring semester to a full-time freshman student who has been "unconditionally" accepted to the Edinboro University Honors Program and is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the student remains in the Honors Program, maintains a cumulative QPA of 3.30 or greater.  Financial need is not a factor.

 

MARQUETTE SAVINGS BANK SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this awarded must be a full-time student who is a permanent resident in Erie or Crawford counties and is enrolled in the University Honors Program. This scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters. Financial need is not a factor. 

 

JAMES E. MCKINLEY HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The student must meet all of the criteria required to participate in the Edinboro University Honors Program, although the student need not be formally enrolled in the Honors Program.  This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided that as a sophomore, the student must apply and be accepted into the Honors Program; and the student maintains a cumulative QPA of 3.30 or better. The individual must be enrolled on a full-time basis (as determined by Edinboro University policy) during both the Fall and Spring semesters.  Financial need may be considered but is not a limiting factor.

 

JOHN AND FRANCES MICELI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this award must be a member of the University Honors Program.  The Scholarship Committee must consider any full-time student from Crawford County, Pennsylvania, who is pursuing a four-year degree.  Financial need may be considered, but is not a determining factor.

 

NATIONAL FUEL SCHOLARSHIP

As a community leader, National Fuel is committed to the development of educational partnerships for the prosperity and vitality of the northwestern Pennsylvania region.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a resident of northwestern Pennsylvania, preference will be given to National Fuel employees and their immediate families.  The student must be enrolled full-time with a minimum of at least 30 credits and have a minimum cumulative QPA of 2.5.  Financial need may be a determining factor. 

 

 

FRANK G. POGUE HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be an entering freshman or upperclass student who meets all of the criteria required to participate in the Edinboro University honors program, although the student need not be formally enrolled in the honors program. The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis.  This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the student maintains an overall cumulative QPA of 3.3 or better.  Financial need is not a factor.

 

THE DR. DORIS SNELL SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Snell is a former faculty member of Edinboro University.  The recipient of this scholarship must be enrolled in the University Honors Program and be majoring in

English, with preference being given to a student who has demonstrated strong interest in creative writing through submission of an application/essay, as announced by the Director of the Honors Program.  The author of the essay judged best will be chosen.  The committed may choose to request the assistance of English faculty in selecting a final recipient.  In the event of a tie, greatest financial need will be the determining factor.

 

UNIVERSITY SERVICES, INC. PRESIDENTIAL HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this award must be enrolled full time during the fall and spring semesters and be an entering freshman or upperclass student who meets the requirements to participate in Edinboro University honors program. Preference should be given to students who are actively participating in the Honors Program. This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the student remains in the honors program and maintains an overall cumulative QPA of 3.30 or better. This scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and spring semester. Financial need is not a factor. 

 

VERIZON HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

This annual scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman enrolled in the Edinboro University Honors Program.  The recipient must be enrolled full-time and be "unconditionally" accepted by the Edinboro University Honors Program. This is a non-renewable scholarship.  Financial need is a factor.

 

DR. ROBERT C. WEBER DOLLARS FOR HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of the University Honors Program.  Freshmen must have graduated in the top 20% of their high school class, have a minimum SAT score of 1140 or an ACT score of 28, and have had a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a college preparatory curriculum.  Upperclassmen must have a 3.5 minimum QPA. 

 

JULIA WOOD-SMITH HONORS SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of the University Honors Program.  Financial need is a factor.
