DR. MARIUS EMEKA ADIMMADU SCHOLARSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

This scholarship was established by Dr. Marius Emeka Adimmadu, who graduated from Edinboro University in 1981 with a degree in accounting and a minor in economics.  The recipient of this award must be an international student, preferably Nigerian, pursing his/her first undergraduate degree at Edinboro University.  The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis and have a minimum QPA of 3.0 or better.  The scholarship may be renewable and can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring semesters.

 

JUSTINA BARON ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to the son, daughter, niece or nephew of an Edinboro graduate. The recipient must have completed a minimum of 32 credit hours and have a B+ or greater academic average. Financial need is not a limiting factor in selection.

 

DR. JEREMY D. BROWN LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is being established in recognition of Dr. Brown’s inauguration as Edinboro University’s 16th president.  The student must be an entering freshman or upperclassman who meets the criteria required to participate in the Edinboro University Honors Program, although the student need not be formally enrolled in the Honors Program.  The student must be enrolled full time and maintain a minimum QPA of 3.0.  Students must submit an application and an essay (not exceeding three pages), responding to the statement, “Characteristics of a successful leader in the 21st Century.”  Additional consideration for eligibility will include leadership experience and roles, volunteerism, and active participation in projects or organizations.

 

BUCHANAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in memory of Dorothy P. Buchanan, who graduated from Edinboro State Teachers College (now Edinboro University) in 1934.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a non-traditional student pursuing his/her first undergraduate degree as evidenced by a record of continuous enrollment at Edinboro University.  The student must have a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.5 and a minimum of 60 earned credits.  Preference should be given to students who have completed fifty percent of their earned credits from Edinboro University.  Consideration will first be given to residents of Crawford County, specifically, graduates of Crawford Central and Meadville High School, then Erie County residents.  Financial need is a determining factor.

 

DANA BUSHNELL WOMEN’S STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this annual scholarship must have a “declared” minor in Women’s Studies.  The student must have a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0, earned a minimum of 64 earned credits and completed two courses in women’s studies.  Full-time and part-time students are eligible for the award. 

 

CHARLES D. BUZZANCO SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to a member of Laborers Local 603 (minimum one-year membership) or his/her dependent child who is enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours at Edinboro University.  The amount of the award and number of recipients vary annually.  Financial need may be considered but is not a limiting factor. 

 

COEN FAMILY FOUNDATION ADMISSIONS SCHOLARSHIP

The Charles S. Coen and Mary Coen Family Foundation was established in 1959 by Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Coen of Washington, Pennsylvania.  The Coen Family Foundation has made significant commitments to education, health care and community development throughout its 45-year history.  This scholarship is to be used to enhance access to education for incoming students of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  The eligible candidate must meet the minimum academic standards for enrollment, which include general scholarship, character, interest, and motivation as may be determined by official scholastic records, aptitude tests, recommendations, and interviews.  The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis.  Financial need may be a factor.

 

EDINBORO TAU KAPPA EPSILON ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has been created by Mr. Herman D. Tomer and the Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) alumni of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  It has been established to encourage strong academic excellence, foster leadership skills and enhance the personal development of deserving students in pursuit of their higher education degree.  The recipient must be a full-time student, pursuing an undergraduate degree, with preference to a student who is a a current member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.  Students must have completed at least 30 credit hours, with a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA.  The successful candidate should have a record of leadership within his chapter and campus organizations and must submit a one- to two-page essay.  Financial aid may be a factor. 

 

ROBERT T. GLENN AWARD

The Robert T. Glenn award is offered annually to an outstanding member of the Council of Exceptional Children.

 

RYAN GRAHAM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an active member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity who must be enrolled full time with a minimum of 64 credits and a cumulative QPA of 3.0 or greater. Preference is given to elementary education majors; second preference is for any area of education; otherwise no major course of study is required. The financial aid office in the event of more than one candidate will determine greatest residual financial need.

 

HIGHLAND AMBASSADOR AWARD

The Highland Ambassadors were established in 1997 at the suggestion of President Frank G. Pogue as a way of highlighting and recognizing students who personify the ideals of the Edinboro Family.  Highland Ambassadors are students who have a great sense of pride about their association with Edinboro University and who wish to assist the University in encouraging students to maintain a lifelong relationship with the University.  The recipient must be a full-time student, pursuing an undergraduate degree, with preference to a student who has been a Highland Ambassador for a minimum of one semester.  Candidates must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.  Additional factors to be considered include Ambassador leadership roles and number of service hours contributed as an Ambassador.  Financial need may be a factor.

 

JAMES PROPERTIES SCHOLARSHIP

Awards are made to sophomores with a minimum QPA of 3.5. Priority will be given to a resident of an off-campus building managed by James Properties. This award is renewable for up to a maximum of three years providing a 3.3 cumulative QPA is maintained.

   

KAPPA DELTA PI SCHOLARSHIP

This award is given to an education major, with preference given to a student who is a current member of Kappa Delta Pi.  Undergraduate candidates must have completed 50 credit hours, including twelve credits in education with a 3.4 GPA.  Graduate candidates must have completed 15 credit hours toward a Master’s Degree and earned a 3.5 GPA.  The successful candidate must submit a one- to two-page essay describing his or her career goals, including plans to continue in the education field, on-campus and off-campus work experience, volunteerism, leadership roles, and active participation in projects or professional organizations.  Financial aid may be a factor.

 

JOEL KNOWLTON MEMORIAL FUND

Mr. Joel Daniel Knowlton graduated from Port Allegany High School in 1970, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education – Secondary Biology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1974.  The Joel Knowlton Memorial Fund has been established by Joel’s sister, Julie Knowlton Adair in his memory.  Joel enjoyed his experiences and time spent at Edinboro and to honor and cherish his memory, the family would like to provide financial assistance to the students of Edinboro University in loving tribute.  The recipient must be from Potter County, Pennsylvania, pursuing an undergraduate degree as evidenced by a record of enrollment at Edinboro University.  Financial need may be a factor.

 

LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is to be used to enhance access to education for incoming students majoring in Latin American Studies at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  The recipient must have a minimum SAT score of 1200 and/or ACT composite of 24, and a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 3.0.  The student must be enrolled on a full-time basis during both the Fall and Spring semesters.  In the event a qualified freshman Latin American Studies major cannot be identified, the award will be made to an upper-class Latin American Studies major, as determined by the Latin American Studies Scholarship Committee.  This scholarship is not renewable and can only be awarded during the Fall and/or Spring Semesters. 

 

JULIET LIEBER INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The recipient of this award must be an international student enrolled full-time at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  The student must be a Political Science major or be involved in the study of International Relations and have a minimum QPA of 3.0.  A selection committee appointed by the Department Chair of Political Science will conduct the scholarship award process.

 

MAINTENANCE/HOUSEKEEPING SCHOLARSHIP

Edinboro University’s maintenance and housekeeping staff to provide a book and educational supplies stipend for their sons and daughters attending Edinboro University created this scholarship. The criteria for this award are: the recipient must be a dependent son or daughter of a current, permanent, full-time employee of either the maintenance or housekeeping staff, a full-time undergraduate student without a previous bachelor degree, and have a QPA of 2.0 or higher after 48 credits are attempted. Financial need is not a factor.

 

MARQUETTE SAVINGS BANK ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has been established to enhance access to education for current or incoming students of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  First preference is to be provided to eligible students who are employees of Marquette Savings Bank or members of their immediate families.  If a student associated with Marquette Savings Bank is not identified, the scholarship award may be provided to another eligible student, based on the discretion of the Financial Aid Office.  The eligible candidate must be in good academic standing, or meet the minimum academic standards for enrollment.  Financial aid may be a factor.

 

CHESTER T. McNERNEY SCHOLARSHIP

This annual award will be made to a student leader who has exhibited academic excellence. Financial need is also a factor. Preferred membership in SGA.

 

LINDSEY L. MYERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Lindsey Myers graduated magna cum laude with honors in 2003 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications and a minor in Spanish.  She was a member of Alpha Chi, the National Collegiate Honor Society.  This scholarship was established in her memory by her parents to encourage the same love of education and enthusiasm for living that Lindsey demonstrated during her short life.  First preference will be given to an entering freshman who is a graduate of Cranberry High School, Cranberry, Pennsylvania, with a minimum 85% GPA, particularly a student who has demonstrated positive involvement in the Cranberry High School community.  Additional consideration may be given to students who have participated in altruistic activities, such as community service.  Financial need may be a factor.

 

LOIS CALDWELL NORTH SCHOLARSHIP

Two scholarships are awarded to students who plan to enter the ministry upon completion of their education. One male and one female may receive this award annually.

 

ELVA ELDER REITHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This award is offered to a student who is majoring in the arts or sciences. Eligible candidates must have a 3.0 cumulative QPA with a 3.5 QPA in their major and must have completed a minimum of 32 credit hours of study. Similarly, the recipient may not have any major infractions against the student code of conduct. Financial need is a definite factor in selection. This award is renewable for up to three years.

 

SANTELLI DIVERSITY ENDOWMENT

The purpose of the Santelli Diversity Scholarship is to promote educational access with preference to persons within diverse groups, including but not limited to:  racial and ethnic minorities; single parents and female heads-of-household with children; non-traditional (i.e., older adults, displaced workers, senior citizens); and persons with learning or physical disabilities.  Financial aid must be a factor. 

 

SCOTTISH STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has been established in memory of Colonel Blair Eliot Henderson, a former Edinboro University faculty member, by his family.  The recipient must be a United States citizen enrolled full-time at Edinboro University with a minimum of 32 credits and a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0.  The student must study abroad for one full semester and enroll in a minimum of 12 credits while overseas.  The study-abroad experience must be associated with an accredited college/university.  The scholarship award may also be used to support student projects in Scottish Studies. 

 

THOMAS STANKO "ON SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT" SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to selected Spectator reporters and staff members recognized for their contributions in the University newspaper. These scholarships were established to attract and retain qualified and committed students to the Spectator.  The student must have a minimum QPA of 3.0 and a minimum of 12 earned credits.  The student must have held the position of Editor-in-Chief of his/her high school newspaper.

 

DR. AL STONE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Dr. Stone was a passionate advocate of Edinboro University and its students; he spent his career helping students through his teaching and counseling.  Al also demonstrated a strong commitment to the community and its senior citizens.  The scholarship is to be used to enhance access to education for incoming students of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  The eligible candidate must meet the minimum academic standards for enrollment, which include general scholarship, character, interest, and motivation as may be determined by official scholastic records, aptitude tests, recommendations, and interviews.  Financial aid may be a factor.  A student with financial need must first apply for financial aid before receiving this scholarship. 

 

STUDENT LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is awarded to an Edinboro University graduating senior.  The student must be enrolled full time (12 or more credits per semester) and have a minimum QPA of 3.0. Students must submit an application and include their resume, one letter of reference from a faculty or staff person supporting the student's leadership contributions and skills, and an essay (not exceeding three pages) responding to the statement, “Being a leader in today's global society.”

 

STUDENT LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was developed for students by students.  It is awarded to a graduating senior with the most financial need.

 

STUDENT SERVICE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE

Dr. Dombrowski spent more than 15 years at Edinboro University, where he served as the Dean of the Institute for Research and Community Services, a professor, and as program head for the school administration programs.  His daughter, Dr. Denise A. Finazzo, received her bachelor and master degrees from Edinboro State College and an Ed.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Drs. Dombrowski and Finazzo are devoted to fostering a culture of service, citizenship and responsibility.  They possess a passion for community service and have dedicated their professional lives and talents to make a difference in the lives of others.  They have created this scholarship to not only provide financial assistance for a deserving student, but to recognize and reward students for outstanding service to the university and the community.  Both of these individuals credit their educational successes to the inspiration and assistance of wife and mother Freida C. Dombrowski and would like to make this available to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania students in her honor.  The recipient must be a second-semester freshman or sophomore to be eligible for this award.  The student must be enrolled full time (12 or more credits per semester) and have a minimum QPA of 3.0.  Students must submit an application with an essay statement describing his or her volunteerism and other acts of kindness that have made a difference in the lives of others and their commitment to civic participation. Financial need may be a factor. 

 

TOMER FAMILY BIG BROTHERS & BIG SISTERS SCHOLARSHIP

Mr. Herman (Herm) D. Tomer received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1971.  A TKE member, Herm is an incredibly active Edinboro alumni, volunteering and serving on a variety of committees, including the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Homecoming Golf Tournament, Alumni Speaker, Reunion Weekend and Career Hotline.  This scholarship is representative not only of the Tomers’ generosity, but also their strong belief in the importance of providing students with every opportunity to achieve their educational goals.  It is the Tomers’ hope that their philanthropic examples will encourage and motivate those students to support a non-profit cause themselves one day.  The recipient must be an incoming, full-time student, pursuing an undergraduate degree.   Preference will be given to a student who has evidence of exemplary community service; in particular, former or current “Big” or “Little” from Big Brothers & Big Sisters.  The student must have exceptional character as demonstrated by volunteerism, work experience, and/or participation in community activities.  Financial need may be a factor. 

 

CHARLES AND GERTRUDE WEBER SCHOLARSHIP

Members of the Weber family have established this scholarship in memory of their parents, Charles and Gertrude Weber.  The recipient of this award must be enrolled full-time, have a minimum QPA of 3.0 with a 1000 SAT score, and be from the city of Pittsburgh.  Financial need is a determining factor.

 

James F. Williams Scholarship

Mr. Williams has established this scholarship to promote educational access to students who are active or willing to become active in gay/lesbian/transgender issues, regardless of sexual preference.  First preference will be given to a student who is active or willing to become active in gay/lesbian/ transgender issues, regardless of sexual preference.  The student must be pursing his/her first undergraduate degree and have a minimum of 30 earned credits.  The scholarship is not automatically renewable; all qualified students must reapply for the award each year.  The student must complete an application and submit a brief essay explaining how he/she plans to use his/her education and its derived benefits to advance gay/lesbian/transgender civil, academic, social, legal and employment rights/improvements.  Selection of the recipient will be determined by the appropriate Scholarship Committee, which may include members of the University’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual club.  Referrals may be garnered from the Student Financial Support and Services Office, faculty, and student applications.  Financial need is a factor.  A student must first apply for financial aid before receiving this scholarship.
