ESTHER ALICE ESTOCK MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is given to a sophomore music major who demonstrates outstanding music aptitudes and who possesses the potential for superior performance in the classical music field. Once awarded, it may be continued into the student's junior and senior years if QPA and performance standards are judged superior to those of other candidates. Financial need is a factor.
GORDON AND PAT FLOOD MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered annually to an entering freshman who demonstrates outstanding musical aptitude. Eligible candidates must have completed basic college preparatory courses while in high school. The student must have a minimum of a 900 SAT or ACT equivalent. The student must audition with the music department and must graduate from high school in the top 50 percent of his/her graduating class. The student must have successfully completed 4 years of academic English, 3 years of academic social studies, mathematics, and science with a minimum cumulative QPA of 2.5.

This scholarship was established by Sue Manchester’s parents not only to honor her memory, but to also encourage the same love of music and enthusiasm for living that she demonstrated during her short life. The student must be a freshman pursuing a music degree and have a minimum high school cumulative QPA of 2.50. The student must demonstrate outstanding musical aptitude as well as academic excellence. Musicianship and performance ability demonstrated in applied lessons, ensembles, and student recital performances will be considered in making the award. Financial need may be a factor.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Varying in value, these scholarships are available to students who are majoring in music. Financial need is not a factor.
Dr. Frank G. Pogue Freshman Music Scholarship
This scholarship is to be used to enhance access to education for incoming music majors (voice or instrument). The student must demonstrate outstanding musical aptitude as well as academic excellence. Musicianship and performance ability demonstrated in applied lessons, ensembles, and student recital performances may be considered in making the award. The eligible candidate must meet the minimum academic standards for enrollment, which include general scholarship, character, interest, and motivation as may be determined by official scholastic records, aptitude tests, recommendations, and interviews. Financial need may be considered, but is not a limiting factor. The student is encouraged to apply for federal financial aid.
MARY L. ROSSON VOCAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was developed by Mr. and Mrs. Hartwell Rosson. Several scholarships are offered to declared music majors or incoming music majors who have a concentration in solo voice studies or vocal accompanying. The recipients must provide service to the solo department through solo voice performance or the accompanying of vocalists, as designated by the voice department. The recipients must audition with the music department, be full-time students, be freshmen with a grade point average of 3.0 in a college preparatory curriculum, or transfer students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Financial need is not a factor.
Dr. Donald and Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler have developed this scholarship to thank the University for all it has provided their family, and to encourage the same type of dedication to learning they have displayed all their lives. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who is enrolled full-time (12 or more credits per semester) and who has a minimum QPA of 3.0. The student must be pursuing his/her first undergraduate degree and be enrolled as a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior. The student must play a double reed instrument, specifically, English horn, oboe, bassoon, or the contra-bassoon. Candidates must audition for a minimum of 15 minutes on their applied musical instrument before the members of the Music Department Scholarship Committee. The student must demonstrate outstanding musical aptitude as well as academic excellence. Financial need is a factor.
