This scholarship was developed by the co-directors of the Early Childhood Education Conference. It is awarded to a student majoring in elementary/early childhood education (dual certification program). The recipient must be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits per semester), have a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0 or higher, earned a minimum of 64 credits and must have successfully completed two courses in both elementary education and early childhood education. Although financial need is not a factor, if there are multiple candidates with identical credentials, the scholarship committee should attempt to award the student with the greatest need. Dr. Kathryn Glenn served as a professor in the Edinboro University Special Education and School Psychology Department. This scholarship was created in tribute to Dr. Glenn and to provide increased support to students who are dedicated to the profession of school counseling. The recipient must be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.0 QPA, and be pursuing a degree in the Educational Psychology Program or certification in the School Psychology Program. This scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters. Financial need may be a factor.
This scholarship is awarded in the Fall and/or Spring semesters to a full-time student with a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0. It first offers preference to an undergraduate majoring in Elementary Education; second preference given to an undergraduate majoring in Elementary Education/Early Childhood dual concentration; third preference to undergraduate majoring in Elementary Education/Mentally Physically Handicapped dual concentration; all with preference to male students.

The recipient of this scholarship must be a graduate of General McLane high school with a minimum of 900 SAT, a 3.0 average, and college prep in the academic curriculum. This scholarship is renewable for up to four years, based upon maintaining a 3.0 cumulative QPA. Financial need is a factor.
This scholarship is presented to an entering freshman with a minimum SAT score of 1000 and upper 2/5 class rank in high school. This scholarship is awarded annually and is renewable for up to four years, providing the recipient remains enrolled full time in a course of study leading to a BA degree in history or geography or a BS degree in secondary social studies. Recipient must maintain a cumulative QPA of 3.3 for each academic year enrolled.
The Hummel scholarship will provide awards to students enrolled in the education department, whose intent is to become an educator. The recipient must be a full-time student of color, who has either a minimum 3.25 cumulative QPA or a combined SAT score of 1000. The scholarship may be renewable for four years if a 3.25 QPA is maintained and the student demonstrates academic progress as determined by the Dean of the School of Education. Financial need may be a factor.
The recipient of this scholarship must be an incoming freshman and an active football player. If a freshman does not meet the other criteria, the scholarship can be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior (in that order). The recipient should be a graduate of either Pine-Richland High School, Stroudsburg High School or from Allegheny County (PA) and must be majoring in the dual major program of elementary education/special education with a minimum cumulative QPA of 2.0, which must be retained for renewal for up to four years. Financial need is not necessarily a factor, but can be used as a determining factor if needed for selection.
This scholarship was established by faculty member Paul Knuth in honor of his disabled brother. The recipient must be a Special Education major or, secondly, a Special Education and Elementary Education major. The award will be made to the student who, in the best judgment of the Special Education Department, is most deserving, has the most likelihood of graduating in this major and has a keen commitment to special education, particularly in the area of mental retardation. The scholarship may be renewable provided eligibility is maintained. The student must have a minimum of 32 earned credit hours and financial need may be considered in making the award.
Dr. Jon Kron was a professor at Edinboro University for nearly 20 years and he held a variety of positions. This scholarship was established to honor Dr. Kron’s memory and to recognize and encourage the same spirit of dedication and professionalism in education displayed by him during his career. The recipient must be a Secondary Education major who has earned a minimum of 60 undergraduate credits with a cumulative QPA of 3.0, or a School Administration graduate student with a cumulative QPA of 3.0. The scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters and is not transferable. Financial need may be a factor.
DR. AND MRS. ERNEST R. LaFOLLETTE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was developed by Mrs. Karen O’Brien and Dr. Janet Bobango in honor of Clara C. Mew, a history and English teacher at East High School in Erie, PA. It is awarded to a student who is enrolled full-time (12 or more credits per semester) and is majoring in secondary education, either social studies or English, and entering their junior year at Edinboro University. The recipient must have earned a minimum of 64 credits and have a cumulative minimum QPA of 3.0. This scholarship can only be awarded to Pennsylvania residents (Erie County residents are given preference) and is renewable through the completion of 128 credits as long as the student maintains a cumulative QPA of 3.0, continues to major in secondary education (social studies or English) and demonstrates academic progress as determined by federal financial aid guidelines. Financial need will be a determining factor.
This scholarship was established by the EUWA and friends and family of Marian Miller. It is awarded to a female undergraduate junior or senior Education major, with preference given to single mothers. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have attended Edinboro University for the majority of credit hours taken. Financial need is a factor.
This award is offered annually to a senior level elementary education major who is concentrating in early childhood education/reading and whose QPA is 3.0 or greater. Financial need is also a factor.
This scholarship was developed by Mrs. Arla Gwynn in honor of her mother, Dorothy Brady Mitchell, who was known for her pioneering work in the field of Special Education. It is awarded to a non-traditional student in his/her junior or senior year majoring in special education (undergraduate degree) who has a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0 and a minimum of 64 credits completed. Enrollment or completion of EX595 (special education field experience) is required. Individuals enrolled in the teacher certification and master of education programs are not eligible for this scholarship. The student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester. If there are multiple students with identical credentials, preference is given to the student who is committed to working in a field with individuals who are emotionally disturbed (as indicated on the scholarship application). This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits.
This scholarship was established by Dr. Dennis and Mary Ann Lupher in memory of his grandmother, Fern Mitcham, who demonstrated a strong commitment to higher education. The recipient must be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior student pursuing an undergraduate degree in education, with preference given to freshman students who have a minimum 1000 SAT score. Financial need may be considered but is not a limiting factor.
This scholarship will be awarded to non-traditional minority students who did not enroll in college immediately after high school. The recipient must have a QPA of 3.0 and major in nursing or education. If the recipient is an incoming freshman, the award is renewable for a maximum of four years provided a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0 is maintained. Financial need and academic merit are used in determining the recipient.
RUTH BOYD PALMER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to a female freshman majoring in elementary education. The student must have a minimum SAT score of 900 and must have graduated in the upper 2/5 of her graduating class. Financial need may be a factor.
HELEN HORNAMAN PARKER
This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in elementary education who has completed a minimum of 32 credit hours, and whose QPA is 3.3 to 3.5. The award is renewable for up to three years as long as the recipient continues to maintain a 3.0 cumulative QPA and is enrolled full-time (12 credits or greater) during each term of funding. The student with the greatest financial need qualifies.
Kevin Jesteadt was a senior airman in the Air Force National Guard-171st Air Refueling Wing and was pursuing dual degrees as a full-time student at Edinboro University, majoring in chemistry/forensic science and secondary education. This scholarship was established in his honor by his mother, Cathy, and friends and family, to encourage the same commitment to education, and enthusiasm and zest for living that Kevin demonstrated during his short life. The recipient of this award must be an entering freshman, with preference given to a Slippery Rock High School graduate, with a minimum QPA of 3.0. The student must be a Criminal Justice major or secondary education major. For the purpose of this award, Criminal Justice major is to include Forensic Chemistry, Forensic Accounting and Political Science. The student must have exceptional character as demonstrated by volunteerism, work experience, and/or participation in community activities. Financial need is a factor.
This scholarship was developed by Mr. Philip Pelton in honor of his daughter, Linda, to encourage and support the training of professionals in the area of special education. It is awarded to students enrolled in the Special/Elementary Education or Special Education Programs, whose intent is to become an educator. Scholarships are to be awarded by the Dean of the School of Education and his/her assigned committee. The eligible candidate(s) shall have a QPA of 3.25 or greater and have a minimum of 24 earned credits. At least three scholarships may be awarded--one each to a sophomore, a junior and a senior. Scholarship funds may be used for summer study. Financial aid may be a factor.

The recipient must have earned a minimum of 32 credits and have satisfactorily completed at least one course in early childhood education. Financial need is a factor. PAMELA PULLING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in the area of education (Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Secondary Education, Health & Physical Education, Special/Elementary Education, Early/Elementary Education) at the undergraduate level. The student must be an incoming freshman that resides in Crawford County and is enrolled full-time. The student must maintain a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.
HELEN SABIN REED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship provides one annual award to a junior or senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in the field of elementary education with a concentration in reading.
HAROLD AND STEPHANIE SHIELDS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is to be awarded to a sophomore student who is majoring in Education with a concentration in science. The recipient must be a minority, with preference given to African American students. This award is not renewable. Financial need may be a factor.
CORA M. AND KENNETH A. SKEEL ELEMENTARY EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
This award is offered annually to an entering freshman elementary education major whose SAT score is 1000 or greater, who graduated in the upper 2/5 of his/her high school class, and who exhibited high academic achievement in high school. Financial need is also a factor.
This scholarship is offered to the son or daughter of a Pennsylvania rural or farm family who is majoring in secondary education social studies, who has at least 32 earned credits and whose QPA is 3.25 or greater. Financial need is a definite factor in the selection.

The recipient must be a Special Education or School Psychology major (pursuing an Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Science in Education or Masters of Education), be enrolled full-time, and shall have a minimum QPA of 3.0. ALFRED ANTHONY VESHECCO SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was developed by James and Anne Majerik and is awarded to a Black/African American, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Latino, or Hispanic American student enrolled on a full-time basis majoring in elementary education (undergraduate program only) who has earned a minimum of 32 credits with a minimum cumulative QPA of 3.0. This scholarship is renewable through the completion of 128 credits provided the following qualifications are met: the student remains in the Edinboro University elementary education program; maintains a cumulative minimum QPA of 3.0; and the student demonstrates academic progress as determined by FAFSA. Financial need is a factor.
W.V. ZAHNISER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zahniser established this scholarship in memory of Joe’s dad, W.V. Zahniser. The recipient must be an Elementary Education major, with a concentration in reading and enrolled full- time (12 or more credits per semester). The eligible candidate shall have a minimum QPA of 3.0. The scholarship can only be awarded during the fall and/or spring semesters and is not transferable. The student must complete and submit the appropriate scholarship application. Financial need should be a consideration, but is not a limiting factor.
ROBERT AND WINIFRED ZANOTTI LITERACY EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to an elementary education major with a particular interest in literacy education. The student must be enrolled as an undergraduate in elementary education at the junior level (64-96 credits) at the time of application. This scholarship is renewable one time for recipients who have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of study during the junior year and continue as an elementary education major with a minimum cumulative 3.2 QPA. Recipients who have accrued more than 96 credits by the end of their initial award term are eligible for scholarship renewal. No student may be awarded the scholarship for more than two years.
