Scholarships - What Students Need to Know

As an Edinboro University student, you will automatically be considered for any university scholarships that are available if you match the criteria, are enrolled full-time and have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the appropriate financial aid year.  A small number of scholarships are also available for students attending part-time (at least 6 credits).

The financial aid office obtains a list of students from our information system who match the criteria for each scholarship.  A committee reviews the group of students and makes the award.  Depending on the scholarship, the committee could be personnel from Admissions, Financial Aid or the academic departments involved.  A few scholarships require a special application in addition to the FAFSA.  For these scholarships, the students are identified and are contacted by mail or by student e-mail for currently enrolled students.

Be sure to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid each year after January 1, and before March 15, our preferred deadline, to be eligible for our Edinboro University scholarships for the new academic year.  We begin selection after March 15th and most of our scholarships require that you have a FAFSA on file with us.

In addition to the university scholarships, don’t overlook local organizations and clubs for scholarship opportunities.  Watch your local newspaper and call any groups that your parents or other family members may belong to.  There are also several websites that allow you to enter information about yourself and your educational goals and receive scholarship information that fits your goals.
