COUN784       PSYCHOSOCIAL ASPECTS OF DISABILITY                             3 sem. hrs.

 

This course explores the psychological and social aspects disability.  Interpersonal as well as intrapersonal issues are examined.  Emphasis is placed on the impact of illness, disability, and deviance on the individual and her or his family.  The course presents many of the issues and challenges encountered by the rehabilitation professional, including attitudes toward individuals with disabilities and the perspectives of families and professionals.  The primary objective is to expand students’ perspectives regarding disability and disability-related issues.
