· The Elementary School Guidance Program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
The elementary school guidance program trains students to be guidance counselors in grades K through 8. Program requirements at present include 51 semester hours of coursework which includes a 12 credit internship. The internship involves 600 clock hours working as a guidance counselor in an elementary school. The program leads to a Master of Arts Degree and eligibility for certification by the State of Pennsylvania as an elementary school guidance counselor.
Elementary School Counselor Certification: Students seeking certification as an Elementary School Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania must pass the Level I Praxis Exams (Reading, Writing, Math) and the Level II Counseling Praxis Exam.
