FEDERAL LOAN PROGRAMS
Federal Stafford Loan program provides low-interest loans to students regardless of income or financial need. The maximum Stafford Loan for freshman is $3,500. First-time borrowers are required to complete loan counseling. This can be done online at www.aessuccess.org. Please click on "Entrance & Exit Counseling" and then follow the instructions for "Federal Student Loan Entrance Counseling."
Federal Perkins Loan program provides low-interest loans to eligible undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional need. The Perkins Loan award ranges from $400-$4,000. Funding for this program is very limited and are utilized as a last resource.
Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) program is available to parents who possess good credit and wish to borrow to provided for their son's or daughter's education. The annual loan limit is the cost of education less other financial aid received by the student. More information regarding the PLUS program is available at www.aessuccess.org. Please click "Parent PLUS Loans" under "Student Loans."
The Graduate PLUS loan allows the graduate student to borrow up to the cost of attendance after eligibility for the Federal Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loan annual limits have been determined. Students must complete the FAFSA and say "Yes" to loans on the FAFSA application.
