| The Program: The Department of Professional Studies offers a post master’s program leading to the Pennsylvania Letter of Eligibility. Successful completion of the program and achievement of the cut-off score on the School Superintendent Assessment (SSA)* will lead to the Letter of Eligibility. | ||||

| This course examines the role and function of the superintendent as the chief educational officer of a public school system. It emphasizes the general operations of the school system, the essential responsibilities, practices, and processes for effective educational administration and organizational leadership. | |
| SCHA798 | Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis |
| This course examines the role and function of the superintendent in development, implementation, and evaluation of the strategic plan and school district policy. It presents the guidelines and requirements set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Emphasis is placed on leadership for educational planning as well as school district policy and regulation development. | |

| This graduate course for potential and practicing administrators enhances leadership through study of negotiations and labor relations in public education. It meets a negotiations and labor relations component of preservice training required for certification in school administration. | |
| SCHA797 | Educational Technologies and Facilities |
| This course examines the knowledge the superintendent needs for the effective maintenance, renovation, and construction of facilities. Issues addressed will include, regulations and processes need to conduct the building process including planning, financing, state and local regulations, current technologies, and the construction team. | |
