Volunteer Information

The EUP chapter of Alpha Chi is hosting a pajama party. We have invited children (ages 4 to 10 & at least one parent) of the Edinboro & EUP community to a two hour pajama party. In order to be admitted, each child is asked wear a pair of appropriate pajamas, bring a new pair of pajamas and a new book which will be donated to needy children via a local social service agency. This year's gifts will be donated to Erie CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). During the course of the two hour party, participants will wrap and decorate the gifts, write cards to the children who will receive the gifts and have stories read to them by Alpha Chi members and other volunteers. Refreshments will also be served.

During the course of the evening, we will discuss the benefits of giving and explain why we are giving the gifts to people that we do not know. The goal is to help children to begin to think about giving as a social responsibility and to think of themselves as part of a broader community, whether they personally know the people to whom they give assistance or not. Additionally, we seek to encourage the benefits of reading for pleasure.

If you would like to volunteer to help with the party, please respond, via email, by Sunday, November 25, 2007. All volunteers must go through a brief (30 minute) orientation the week of the party.  The orientation session will take place on Monday, November 26th at 9:00 pm in the Earp Hall Basement.  Click the "Pajama Party Volunteer Information" link below to respond.
