Overview

Alpha Chi students invites children (ages 4  to 10 & at least one parent) of the Edinboro community to a pajama party. In order to be admitted, each child is asked wear a pair of appropriate pajamas, bring a new pair of pajamas and a new book which will be donated to needy children via a local social service agency.  This year's gifts will be donated to Erie CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). During the course of the two hour party, participants will wrap and decorate the gifts, write cards to the children who will receive the gifts and have stories read to them by Alpha Chi members and volunteers.  Refreshments will also be served.

During the course of the evening, Alpha Chi members will discuss the benefits of giving to the children and explain why we are giving the gifts to people that we do not know. The goal is to help children to begin to think about giving as a social responsibility and to think of themselves as part of a broader community, whether they personally know the people to whom they give assistance or not.  Additionally, we seek to encourage the benefits of reading for pleasure.
