Requirements

"Service-learning combines service objectives with learning objectives with the intent that the activity change both the recipient and the provider of the service. This is accomplished by combining service tasks with structured opportunities that link the task to self-reflection, self-discovery, and the acquisition and comprehension of values, skills, and knowledge content."  http://www.servicelearning.org/what_is_service-learning/service-learning_is/index.php

Each semester RCWHP students must complete 10 hours of service learning hours.  The hours are divided in half, with five being completed in on campus projects and five being completed in off campus projects.  The requirement results in 20 hours of service learning hours to be completed each academic year.  Service learning requirements must be documented (electronically) on a Service Learning Form, signed by the supervisor of the project and turned in to the Honors Program office for approval.  When in doubt about the validity of a project, seek the feedback of the director of the program.
