University Archives material includes documents and other items produced
by university offices or by people or entities related to the university. This is a collection of non-current materials such as minutes, publications, self-studies, papers of retired faculty members and so on. The collection also includes popular items such as yearbooks, catalogs and student newspapers.
Past student evaluations of faculty are housed in the University Archives and may be seen during open hours. Current evaluations can be found in the Reserves section of the library.
Two fine collections of photographs are also a part of the archival
collection. These are the Lawrence Kupper Collection and the Russell
Wood Collection. Kupper was a turn of the century Edinboro photographer
and a member of the schools' Board of Trustees. Russell Wood was a
long-time employee of Edinboro who photographed the campus in the 1960's
and 1970's. A portion of his work is on now on the Edinboro Online Archival Exhibit.
Genealogical research material is limited. Some brief information may be
found on former students and employees. The resources of the University Archives
do not adequately cover former residents of Edinboro or Erie County. The library has U.S. Census covering Erie, Warren and Crawford County for the years 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. These are available in the microforms room. There is also collection of old newspapers on microfilm. Some family names can be found by searching in the Edinboro Online Archival Exhibit.
