Services for Patrons with Disabilities
Contact: Prof. Elizabeth Richardson, Access Services Librarian, 814-732-1066
This page provides information on some of the ways the library tries to facilitate access to resources and services
for those with disabilities.
What kind of assistance is available?
Librarians are accommodating and experienced in helping students with disabilities make the best use of information resources at the
Library. They will make adjustments for special circumstances/requests/needs. Individual or group instruction is available for students
with learning disabilities and/or students with physical disabilities.
Is the building accessible?
The Baron-Forness Library is completely accessible for students with disabilities. Two elevators service the building with tactile
indicators on each floor. Appropriate access areas, phones, and rest room facilities are available.
Is the furniture and equipment accessible?
Modifications have been made to tables, study carrels, and workstations to allow for wheelchair access and ease of use. Computers are
equipped and configured with the software and hardware necessary for use by students with specific disabilities and/or physical
impairments. Oversized monitors and adjustable desks are available in the 1st Floor Reference Area and in the library's computer lab.
What resources are available outside the library?
Many resources are now available via modem access and allow users to search for journal articles, citations, book reviews, and more.
Please visit any of our electronic resources' pages
for a listing of all electronic resources. Many of these resources are accessible via modem access. Text-only versions
are also available for many resources.
