Welcome to the Department of Middle and Secondary Education!

The Department of Middle and Secondary Education provides prospective teacher candidates with essential professional education courses as well as carefully planned experiences in public schools to enable them to successfully enter the world of professional educators in our public schools.  In addition, it helps prospective teachers become informed concerning the general background discipline, including such studies as historical, philosophical, methodological, and social foundations of education.  These studies affect the teachers' success in meeting the educational needs of their students and in assisting them in solving the problems of leading a worthwhile life in our contemporary society.  The Department of Middle and  Secondary Education is also responsible for all certification programs in Middle and Secondary Education.
