The Parents and Families Organization of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania

 ARTICLE 1-Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Parents and Families Organization shall be to promote positive parent and family relations, and to provide a support group for parent and family views and suggestions.

The goal of the organization shall be to establish and maintain communication links between the University, parents and family members, and students.

Members of the Parents and Families Organization shall be goodwill ambassadors who inform other parents and family members about the strengths and needs of the students and the University.

 ARTICLE II-Membership

 Section 1.

Parents and family members of students who are currently enrolled as undergraduates in the University are automatically members of the organization.

Those who continue to show an interest in the University after their family members have graduated shall also be members of the organization.

 Section 2.

No dues shall be charged for membership in the Parents and Families Organization.

 ARTICLE III - Officers 

 Section 1.

Officers of the Parents and Families Organization of Edinboro University will be the Chairperson(s), Vice Chairperson(s), and Secretary(Secretaries).

The University President appoints liaison officers and advisors, who shall be non-voting.

 Section 2.

The officers of the Parents and Families Organization shall be elected at the fall meeting of the Parents and Families Organization by those members then present.

ARTICLE IV - Committees 

 Section 1.

Subcommittees shall be appointed for various purposes as the Officers deem necessary. (Currently, proposed committees include Student Life and Parent Advocacy.)

 Section 2.

These subcommittees shall report their findings to the Parents and Families Organization.

 Section 3.

The current officers of the Parents and Families Organization will be on the standing committee for each subcommittee.

 ARTICLE V - Meetings

 Section 1.

The Parents and Families Organization shall meet at least twice each year, in the fall and spring semesters.

 Section 2.

Special meetings shall be called at such times as the Chairperson/Co-Chairpersons shall designate.

 Section 3.

Notice of meetings shall be given in writing to each member at least one month before the date of such meetings.

 Section 4.

In the absence of the Chairperson(s), the Vice Chairperson(s) shall preside.

ARTICLE VI - Mail

 Section 1.

All mail coming to the Parents and Families Organization shall be addressed to: Parents and Families Organization, c/o Office of Student Affairs and Student Success, University Center Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Edinboro, PA 16444.

ARTICLE VII - Admendments

 Section 1.

Proposed amendments must be submitted to the University liaisons to the Parents and Families Organization not less than one month prior to a Parents and Families Organization meeting.

 Section 2.

These by-laws may be amended by a majority vote of the officers and members present at a Parents and Families Organization meeting.
